My very first post!

I am so excited to be able to start sharing my love for baking and cooking. This has been a very long time coming, but when my kitchen remodel was finished I knew it was time! We have been in our home for over 13 years. After 4 kids and 3 dogs and a litter of puppies, the original carpet and tile in the kitchen were completely trashed! Our remodel started with me complaining about the disgusting carpet, then the broken tiles, and if we ripped out the tiles we would have to take out the kitchen cabinets. If we were going to spend the money to replace the kitchen cabinets and flooring, I wanted the walls to be painted to look new also. The flooring I chose is dark engineered hardwood, so I figured we needed to paint the ceiling white also to brighten everything up. There was a major domino affect happening, but we jumped in anyway. This is what our kitchen used to look like.

And this is what it looks like now! Now you can understand why I want to bake so much. I want to break in my new kitchen and if anyone is going to get it dirty, scratch it up and possibly trash it… 😜 it’s going to be me. This process took about 2 months. So this is where we started.

We decided we would rip out all of the carpet on the main level. In our office, we have a closet that was just collecting junk so we decided to make it an office space. That bench opens up to our dog’s sleeping area 🙂

After that, we started ripping out all of the cabinets in the kitchen, luckily I found someone to buy them after listing them in the classified ads. They even wanted our old appliances. Then we tore out the tile in the kitchen. We were prepared for it to be the worst part, and it was. My husband and son did most of the work, it saved us around $3,000 and it was worth it. Although it was about 3 days of awfulness.

Then the flooring was put in!

Then, we waited, and waited. Getting the cabinets put in took the longest. Luckily we have a little kitchenette in our basement that we were able to do dishes and have counter space for about 6 weeks until our cabinets and countertops were all put in. I chose glacier white for my quartz countertops. Then we decided to do subway tile for our backsplash, predictable, yes I know. And I didn’t care. I wanted a white kitchen and I love it!Then it was complete! We added a wall double oven, the cabinet guy said “Wow, 4 ovens? You must like to cook or bake.” I said, “Yep, I do” 🙂 Needless to say, I have been baking like crazy. Especially cinnamon rolls. So I am excited to share with you my favorite recipes! Thanks for reading!
